In the past we had used SABUS for designs based on Z80, 68008, 68000 and a Z8002. There was a small group who tried to get a low-cost system going in the early 1980s, but time passed them by and VME offered so much more. It would also be nice to be able to purchase “off the shelf” debugged boards. The orVME boards were similar to our previous configurations, but they had better layout staff and manufacturing capability. Software would be easy to port, so we bought a set of cards for a project.
