Two STD Bus cards

Two STD Bus cards attached to extenders being tested (1982)

Work done from 1981 to 1984

This was a bus made popular by several companies shipping Z80 systems. My master’s thesis project was based on a Z80 CPU in a STD BUS rack. See the Z80 section for several STD Bus cards.

From Wikipedia’s STD Bus page, the abbreviation was “Simple To Design” and defined by Prolog.

A Google search shows that there are plenty of suppliers almost thirty years later, however, the Z80 gave way to the x86. In one of the papers during the cursory search, the bus was “Simple To Design”, “Simple To Develop”, “Simple To Debug”.
